Jum l-Indipendenza – Independence Day
After living under British rule for 150 years Malta gained its political Independence from Britain on the 21st of September 1964. On the night of the 20-21st September, the Maltese flag was raised. This occurred at the Independence Arena, Floriana.
Prior to the British ruling Malta there were many other rulers which included the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Greeks, the Arabs, the Normans, Sicilians, Swabians, Aragonese, the Knights of St John and even the French for two years.
Join the Maltese Community Council of Victoria in celebrating this day.
