The Malta High Commission in Australia has the pleasure to announce that H.E. Mr. Mario Farrugia Borg, High Commissioner of Malta to Australia has presented the Letters of Credence, accrediting him as non-resident High Commissioner of Malta to New Zealand, to the Her Excellency the Rt. Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM, QSO, Governor General of New Zealand, during a virtual Presentation of Credentials Ceremony on Tuesday, 7 September 2021.
The High Commissioner delivered a speech highlighting the close relations and cooperation between Malta and New Zealand. The Governor General reciprocated with a speech echoing the High Commissioner’s sentiments.
The High Commissioner was later joined in the Ceremony by partner, Ms. Joanne Grima and children, Adam, Mariam and Grace, and Deputy High Commissioner, Ms. Denise Demicoli, whom he introduced before an exchange of pleasantries with the Governor General and spouse, Sir David Gascoigne KNZM,CBE. Honorary Consul of Malta in New Zealand, Prof. Carmen Dalli was also present to witness the proceedings.
The High Commissioner took the opportunity to thank the Governor General for New Zealand’s cooperation and assistance in the repatriation of Maltese nationals from New Zealand during the initial outbreak of COVID 19 in 2020.
