NEWS Melbourne media outlet Herald-Sun reported yesterday that Melbourne Heart announced that Michael Mifsud, Malta’s international striker and record goal scorer, has been released from his 12-month contract. Mifsud, who played 14 games for the club in the A-League and scored only once, has returned to Malta.
According to sources quoted by Timesofmalta.com, it was Mifsud who asked the club to release him because he wanted to return to Malta for personal reasons. Mr Mifsud had signed a one-year-deal with Melbourne Heart in September last year.
