The Australian Multicultural Community Services Inc. (AMC Services) is seeking volunteers to visit Maltese elderly who may be socially isolated. AMC Services is a community based organisation addressing the diverse and changing needs of multicultural communities in Victoria, and specialises in providing cultural specific aged care services.
Ms Michelle Lawrence is the Coordinator of Volunteer Programs at AMC Services. She coordinates a friendly visiting program for socially isolated elderly from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. AMC Services have a base of multicultural volunteers who are able to provide a free fortnightly home visit for the purpose of companionship and friendship.
AMC Services currently have a number of clients of Maltese background living in Melbourne’s North and West who are keen to have a volunteer visit them, but they do not have any Maltese volunteers. They are keen to recruit volunteers aged 18 years and over who have a genuine empathy and understanding of older people.
Anyone who is interested to become a volunteer with AMC Services should contact Ms Michelle Lawrence on (03) 9689 9170 or by email: [email protected].
AMC Services provide their volunteers with ongoing training and support as well as travel reimbursement.
