Waltzing Matilda is produced and presented by Josephine Zammit Cordina. Her association with the programme that she initiated goes back to over 17 years, during which hundreds of Maltese-Australians featured in the 393 editions so far. The list of those featured includes diplomats and politicians, professional people, entrepreneurs. scholars, white and blue collar workers, housewives, teachers and students, members of religious orders, trade unions, musicians and singers, authors and poets, folk singers, sports people and other genres.
Programmes covered various activities held by Maltese associations, particularly the traditional festas, as well as Australia’s national events and State visits to Malta and Australia.
Josephine Zammit Cordina, who was honoured by the Governments of Malta and Australia for her services to the development of cultural links between the two countries, paid her 13th visit to Australia last year. Apart from these awards and others, Waltzing Matilda can also boast of another honour, when Joe Montebello, cameraman and progamme co-ordinator in Victoria was honoured by the Government of Malta.
