On Wednesday 9 January 2019 the MCCV held a reception at the Maltese Community Centre in Parkville to farewell Ms Joanna Pisani, Malta’s Consul General for Victoria and thank her for her services to the Maltese community. Around 100 people attended the event and enjoyed the celebration. Ms Pisani had started her posting in Melbourne in August 2017. She will be leaving Australia on 17 January 2019 to take up her new posting in Malta’s diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv, Israel.
In a brief address MCCV President Marlene Ebejer thanked Ms Pisani for her work and her engagement with the Maltese community in Melbourne and the support that she always provided to the MCCV. In reply, Ms Pisani thanked the MCCV and the Maltese community for the welcome that she received during her posting in Melbourne.
The MCCV and the Maltese community living in Melbourne will certainly miss Ms Pisani and wish her all the best in her new posting. She will be replaced by Mr Mario Farrugia Borg, who will take over the post as Consul General of the Republic of Malta in Victoria from 17 January 2019. The MCCV is looking forward to working with the new Consul General.
