The Christmas function of the MCCV Social Support Group was held at the Maltese Community Centre in Parkville on Tuesday 4 December. 130 people attended the function. Among those in attendance were staff and clients from the MCCV Social Support Group from Sunshine and Parkville, residents from Arcare, Estia Health, Marina Aged Care, Monterey and Rosary Home, a number of volunteers from the Newport Maltese Seniors and the Ladies Auxiliary, and members of the MCCV Executive Committee.
Prior to the commencement of the function, Fr Lonnie Borg mssp celebrated Mass. As Fr Lonnie was celebrating his 60th birthday that day, MCCV Vice President Mr Victor Borg made a small presentation to him for the special occasion. This was followed by a three-course meal, a raffle and entertainment.
The day was a huge success with transport, food preparation and entertainment all running smoothly, thanks to the numerous volunteers who were kind enough to donate their time and energy. Entertainment from the Newport Seniors group had everyone singing along to Maltese and English songs. Everyone worked exceptionally well together to ensure that food was served promptly, and all participants were cared for throughout the day. The atmosphere was happy and friendly, and many laughs were shared between all who worked so tirelessly to make it a very special day.
Special thanks go to Ladies Auxiliary President, Mrs Marlene Xerri, and the Ladies Auxiliary group for funding these events each year.
