On Sunday 15 April 2018 representatives from some 37 Maltese associations, affiliated to the MCCV, attended a Special General Meeting at the Maltese Community Centre in Parkville to consider proposed resolutions for the amendment to the Statement of Purposes of the Maltese Community Council of Victoria Inc. and the MCCV Home Care Service Inc. as well as a change of name for the second corporation.
At the meeting the President Victor Borg addressed the members and detailed the reasons for the proposed amendments. He explained that these amendments became necessary as the Statement of Purposes should better reflect the benevolent services currently being provided by the MCCV and the needs of the Maltese community in Victoria.
Members voted unanimously in favour of the Special Resolutions, exceeding the required three-quarters of its members to vote in favour of the resolutions. The MCCV will be proceeding to lodge these amendments at the Office of Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Victor Borg expressed his Council’s appreciation to the representatives of the associations for their attendance and urged them to maintain close contact with the MCCV in the interest of the community.
